MPB achieves ‘A-’ rating from Circulytics for circular economy performance

At MPB, we’re excited to announce we have achieved an overall ‘A-’ rating from Circulytics, a tool created by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
Circularity is at the forefront of MPB, as camera equipment is built to last. MPB’s circular business model extends the life of gear even further, recirculating cameras, lenses and accessories to visual storytellers around the world.
The Circulytics tool allows organisations to assess how prepared they are to transition to a circular economy, and how circular their current operations are through a variety of metrics, which deliver a company-level score. This score aids businesses in understanding the extent of their success in embracing circular economy business practices and offers a ‘snapshot’ of the circularity of their business measures. The score highlights key development areas to aid business innovation and improvement going forward in the circular economy.

Commenting on the rating, Rachel Thompson, Head of Sustainability at MPB Brighton said: “At MPB, we are committed to driving circular thinking and behaviour so that simply buying new is no longer the default option.
“Circulytics is a comprehensive and respected circularity measurement tool. We are pleased to achieve the overall score of ‘A-’ this year, and an ‘A’ in the subcategories of strategy, innovation, operations, products and materials.
“While we recognise there is more to do, we look forward to building on this result over the next few years, especially as we work towards our goal of using 100% renewable electricity by 2030”.

Rachel Thompson, Head of Sustainability at MPB Brighton
The Circulytics tool measures an organisation's entire circularity, not just products and material flows. MPB scored an ‘A’ for the ‘Enablers’ category and the ‘strategy & planning’, ‘innovation’, ‘operations’ and ‘products & materials’ themes. An ‘A-’ was obtained for the ‘Outcomes’ category and the ‘people & skills’ and ‘external engagement’ themes. The tool shows there is room for improvement in ‘plant property & equipment assets’ and in ‘renewable energy', which MPB is working to improve upon in the coming years.
