Review: A closer look at the Nikon Z FC retro-style camera
Published 21 October 2021 by MPB
With its retro look and feel, the mirrorless Nikon Z fc is a great mid-range camera for photographers looking to take that next step in developing their photography. MPB resident photographer Ian ventured out to test the Nikon ZFC.
Similar to the 2021 Nikon Df, the ZFC is Nikon’s latest attempt at making a camera in a vintage style. The main difference, of course, is the Nikon ZFC is a much smaller mirrorless camera and the Nikon DF is a bulkier DSLR.

The Nikon ZFC has an APS-C cropped sensor, with a crop factor of around 1.5. So, using a 28mm lens means it'll result in the equivalent of around a 35mm viewing angle on a full-frame camera. This camera has dedicated top dials for almost every type of shooting to make your whole experience a lot easier.

Along with a healthy amount of megapixels for an APS-C sensor, the Nikon ZFC can go from the lowest ISO of 100 all the way to 51,200 natively. You could even push the ISO to 200,000 if needed, although the results would have mushy shadows and poor quality at this level.

Nikon knocked it out of the park with this one, making it a good contender with other premium compact cameras on the market. It is a great option for photographers who want images straight-out-of-camera, without having to worry about RAW images.
