The Canon EOS 2000D is an excellent choice if you’re just starting out in photography and you’re looking for a budget DSLR camera. The Canon EOS 2000D features a 24.1-megapixel APS-C sensor, precise autofocus capabilities, WiFi connectivity options for rapid image transfers, a top shooting speed of three frames-per-second and a host of in-camera features to advance your picture-making potential.
The 2000D’s APS-C format sensor incorporates 24.1 effective megapixels. The camera has a nine-point autofocus system, with the central autofocus point being a cross-type that analyses both horizontal and vertical lines to help to deliver accurate, central focusing. All nine of the autofocus points are linked to the camera’s 63-zone dual-layer metering system, which helps to ensure a potent combination of accurate autofocus with properly-metered scenes in differing lighting conditions.
One of the most notable features of the 2000D is the rear three-inch [7.5cm] LCD screen, which is in a 4:3 format, offers approximately 100% coverage and can have its brightness adjusted to one of seven levels. The LCD displays the camera settings and a Quick Control Screen for easy access to your settings and controls.
The EOS 2000D is WiFi-enabled for simple connectivity to smartphones that are running Canon’s Camera Connect app, which works on iOS and Android systems. This helps you ensure you can instantly share or store images shot on the camera. The 2000D also includes Near Field Communication (NFC), which is capable of connecting to a compatible smartphone. The in-camera specs of the 2000D include six image settings on top of the basic auto mode, plus a variety of creative filters that allow you to add and experiment with options such as Grainy Black-and-White, Soft Focus, Fish-Eye, Miniature Effect and Toy Camera once you’ve taken your pictures.
The 2000D’s standard ISO range is 100-6400 but an additional ’H’ expandable setting means you can shoot at up to ISO 12,800—a setting that’s more than capable of handling most reasonable lighting situations while maintaining the sharpness and crisp focusing in your pictures.
The camera’s 1.6x APS-C format sensor effectively adds further focal length power to your pictures. For example, a 100mm focal length lens on the 2000D will give you an effective focal length of 160mm in comparison to a full-frame camera. The benefit of this is that you're effective 'closer' to subjects such as wildlife or people playing sports.
For an entry-level DSLR, the 2000D has a solid all-round spec and will also let you try out Full HD 1080p movie shooting, shoot action at speeds of up to 1/4000sec and open up a gateway to more than 80 Canon EF and EF-S lenses, which will further augment your creative and picture-making possibilities.
