MPB to Launch in Four New Markets as Part of Ongoing International Expansion

Published 24 October 2024 by MPB

MPB, the largest global platform to buy, sell and trade used photo and video gear, has announced its expansion into four new markets: Ireland, Austria, Italy and Belgium.

Since 2 October, buyers and sellers in Ireland now have access to a dedicated version of the MPB platform at mpb.com/en-ie. On 9 October, MPB launched a second German-language version of its platform for Austria at mpb.com/de-at

MPB will now expand into two further markets: Italy, in Italian, and Belgium, in both French and Dutch.

These four new markets will increase MPB’s global reach to ten. This expansion follows MPB’s launch in the Netherlands in March 2024 and builds on its established operations in the UK, US and Germany, as well as its French-language platform covering France.

With MPB and Retail Economics’ ‘Second-Hand, First Choice: The Psychology of Recommerce’ survey finding that over a third (35%) of customers increased the frequency of used purchases in 2023, MPB is looking to capitalise on this growing trend and reach new customers.

MPB is committed to making photo and video gear more accessible and affordable, and doing so in a way that’s good for both people and the planet. By bringing its circular business model to new markets, MPB is enabling more visual storytellers to make sustainable choices, including lower carbon emissions compared to new gear.

MPB’s latest Companies House filing saw the business record revenue of £137 million (€164 million) and a growth rate of 40%. With more than 65% of revenue now generated outside the UK, MPB’s recent expansions suggest this growth will only continue.

Matt Barker, CEO, MPB said: “MPB’s expansion into Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Italy is illustrative of our recent success and demonstrates our ongoing growth trajectory as we deliver services in ten markets. By introducing our circular model to these new geographies, we’re not only enabling more photographers and videographers to buy, sell, and trade used kit with ease but also delivering on our purpose to promote sustainability in the industry.”
