MPB Partnering with Scottish Portrait Awards | 2024

Published 19 December 2024 by MPB

For the third year running, MPB is proud to partner with the Scottish Portrait Photography Awards.

The awards have run for eight consecutive years and showcase the best in Scottish Portrait Photography.*

In 2024, the MPB Scottish Portrait Award in Photography will be open to conceptual and surrealist imagery as well as traditional portraiture. The concept of ‘portrait’ may be interpreted in the widest possible sense. The subject may be a self-portrait involving one or more people and/or including animals as long as these are secondary to the human subject. The aim is to create an exhibition with a powerful and exciting impact, showing diversity as well as strong story-telling through portraiture.

The MPB Scottish Portrait Awards includes prizes of £2,000 each for the top portraits in colour and black and white. The winner of the MPB Young Photographer Award, for photographers aged 16–25 years, will receive £500 plus a voucher worth £250 to spend on used gear from MPB.

Photography is one of three main sections of the Scottish Portrait Awards, including Fine Art and Phone Photography awards. Opening in September, the Scottish Portrait Awards exhibition, including fifty photographic works, will travel around Scotland for six months visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow and the highland town of Banff.
